COVAB is a holistic college focused on advancing mojor global development fuctions and services including veterinary services, animal resources development and bio-security for sustainability and integrity of economic, livelihood, public health, security and ecosytems

The college comprises of 2 (two) schools and 6 departments. And these are departments under their respective schools;

1. School of Veterinary Medicine and Animal Resources (SVAR).

• Livestock and Industrial Resources
• Wildlife and Aquatic Animal Resources
• Veterinary Pharmacy, Clinical and Comparative Medicine

2. School of Bio-security, Biotechnical and Labaratory Sciences (SBLS).

• Bio-molecular Resources and Bio-lab Sciences
• Biotechnical and Diagnostic Sciences
• Bio-security, Ecosystems and Veterinary Public Health

Skills Development programmes

The College of Veterinary Medicine, Animal Resources and Bio-Security(CoVAB) in partnership with the Government of Uganda (GOU) through the Skills, Production, Employment and Development (SPEDA) program, developed and are implementing an alternative and transformative model of training that blends Entrepreneural, Vocational, Intellectural and Managerial Skills (BEVIM Model) along an educational value chain while allowing Multiple Entry and Multiple Exit (MEME Model) of learners into the training and job market respectively. Training starts from the grass-root to the upstream end.  This Universal Industrial Education (UIE) scheme is being implemented at CoVAB. It is designed to take the University to the community to engage academia as partners in development under the AFRISA platform.
