The College of Veterinary Medicine, Animal Resources and Biosecurity realises the importance of the animal kingdom as a key player in the ecosystem. Both domestic and wild animals have a specific role they play in holding a balance between Man and nature. Animals provide milk, meat, wool and other utilities that are useful to Mankind. As an academic institution, COVAB strives to show and help the community to make use of animal resources fully and in a sustainable manner. The Animal industry is able to generate incomes for the poor through out the year. COVAB has introduced programs under the AFRISA platform that lead to animal based vocations in a variety of fields such as poultry, fish, piggery, dairy, wildlife, leather, feeds and meat production, value addition and entrepreneurship among others. The animal industry has the capacity to become one of the world’s most leading employers in the near future given the importance of animals in today’s communities.
