Makerere University held an endowment fund run on 14th May, 2017 which was aimed at raising funds for the construction of the University students’ center.
The Speaker of Parliament, Rt. Hon. Rebecca Kadaga was the main celebrant of the event, who flagged off the runners from the Makerere University Freedom Square for a 5 km and 10 km race, in which students, staff members, and well-wishers actively participated. Participants were also highly motivated for the run by the presence of the Makerere University Vice Chancellor, Prof. John Ddumba Ssentamu and the former Chancellor, Prof. Mondo Kagonyera, who took part in the 5km race, together with Rt. Hon. Kadaga.
The College of Veterinary Medicine, Animal Resources and Bio-security (CoVAB) was one of the honored colleges to actively participate in this event, in which some CoVAB students managed to take part in the lead of the first 150 runners to reach the finishing line. The event was organized by a team of members from the Makerere University Planning Department, the Sports Department, Marketing Department and Public Relations Officers of the different Colleges.
The Mak Endowment Fund Run was the first one of its kind to be held at Makerere University which will take place annually.
